Dr. Carl Danzig been practicing since September 2011. A native
of Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Danzig spent his undergraduate years in New Orleans, LA at Tulane
University, receiving a B.A. in Philosophy in 2000. He returned to his hometown for medical
school at Temple University and stayed in Philadelphia for his internship along with a year of
research in ocular oncology at Wills Eye Hospital. Dr. Danzig completed his residency in
ophthalmology at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY and went on to fellowship
training in vitreoretinal surgery at University of Texas-Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX.
Dr. Danzig has served as a principal investigator (PI) for nearly 60 clinical trials and has been among the top enrollers for numerous clinical trials. Dr. Danzig was the first physician to perform a subretinal gene therapy surgery in South Florida. He has contributed to numerous steering committees for multiple phase three clinical trials and scientific advisory boards.
Dr. Danzig is a distinguished member of Retina Society, the American Academy of Opthalmology (AAO), The Association for Vision Research and Ophthalmology (ARVO), American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) as a Fellow of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the VIT-Buckle Society (VBS) and the Association Colombiana Retina y Vitreo (ACOREV).
Dr. Danzig is frequently invited as a guest speaker at national and international meetings and has presented at meetings in Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, Colombia, Canada, Mexico, South Africa and Israel.
Dr. Danzig has been awarded the American Society of Retina Specialists’ Honor Award and the National Eye Institute Travel Grant for the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He has also been the author or co-author on over two dozen scientific publications.
Dr. Carl Danzig, MD, is a highly experienced surgical retina specialist with over 14 years in providing care and treatment of potentially blinding retina conditions. He has conducted cutting-edge research on vision threatening conditions such as macular degeneration and has a strong focus on diabetes-related eye issues.
